Tailor Made connects customers with tailors in Ghana. This page explains what we collect when you use the website or the app, why, who else handles it, and what you can do about it. Questions: contact@techlyafrica.com.
What we collect
- Your account: name, email address, password (stored only as a one-way hash), phone number, and, if you choose, address, location and a profile photo. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email and Google account id.
- Measurements: the body measurements you save and any reference photos. Photos are stored privately and shown only to you and, when you send a request, the tailor you send it to.
- Orders and payments: what you order, from whom, delivery details, and payment status. Card and mobile money details go to Paystack, not to us; we never see or store them.
- What you post and send: looks and products tailors post, comments, reviews and messages.
- Tailors' payout details: the bank and the last four digits of the account. The full account number goes straight to Paystack.
- Your devices: a notification token for each phone you sign in on, so we can send order and message updates.
- How the service is used: which pages and screens are opened, and actions such as placing an order or sharing a tailor's page. Signed in, this is linked to your account. Signed out, the website counts visits with a code made from your IP address and browser that changes every day and can't be linked across days; it sets no tracking cookie. The app uses a random code created when it is installed.
- Errors: technical details when something breaks, without your name, address, measurements or passwords.
Why we use it
- To run your account and the orders you place or accept (our contract with you).
- To take payments, pay tailors and handle refunds (our contract, and the law on financial records).
- To keep the platform safe: stopping fraud, abuse and repeated failed sign-ins (our legitimate interest).
- To understand what works and fix what doesn't, from counts of how the service is used (our legitimate interest).
- To send you emails about your account, such as confirming your address or resetting your password. We don't send marketing without asking.
Who else handles it
We don't sell your data. These companies process it on our behalf, only to provide the service:
- Supabase — database and file storage.
- Vercel — hosting the website and API.
- Paystack — payments and payouts.
- Google Firebase — push notifications to your phone.
- Google — sign-in with Google, if you use it.
- Resend — sending account emails.
- Sentry — error reports.
- PostHog — usage counts, if enabled.
Some of these store data outside Ghana. Each is bound by its own data protection terms. Tailors see what they need to make your order: your name, the measurements you choose to send, and delivery details. The Tailor Made team sees account and order details when running the service and answering support, never your saved measurements or the messages between you and a tailor; every action a team member takes on an account or an order is recorded, with the reason, and kept.
How long we keep it
While your account is open. When you delete it, your personal details are removed straight away, as described on deleting your account. Records of orders and payments are kept, without your name, address or measurements, for as long as the law requires for tax and accounting.
Your rights
You can see and correct your details in the app or on the website at any time, and delete your account yourself. You can also ask us for a copy of your data, or object to how we use it, by emailing contact@techlyafrica.com. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to Ghana's Data Protection Commission.
Children
Tailor Made is for adults. Parents may order clothes for their children, but children should not have their own account.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
